"What is the Truth Anyway?" - Part 1
Topic: Christian Living Passage: Acts 17:11–17:12, John 18:37–18:38, John 14:6, Hebrews 6:18a, John 17:17–17:19, John 14:10–14:17, 2 Timothy 3:16–3:17
We live in a world that lacks knowledge, resents understanding, and punishes the application of wisdom. But Knowledge, Understanding, and Wisdom are the three components of the Trinity of Truth. And so, it should be no surprise that the world not only fails to acknowledge the truth, but it does not want to know the truth.
The governor of Judea once looked into the eyes of Jesus and asked him, “What is the truth anyway?” Then, like many of this world, even today, he turned from Jesus and walked away. Little did he know at the time, but when he was facing the Lord, he was staring at truth in the eye.
When we hear the news and read reports of events happening in our nation and around the world, it is plain to see that the lack of wisdom, the failure to understand, the seemingly total disregard for real knowledge, all stem from the fact that the world does not know what or who truth is.
This sermon marks the start of a short series about truth. Part I this morning will focus on what God has to say about truth. Later sermons will address truth in Christian living and how Christians are to apply truth in a lost and broken world.
